Family Support Workshops
When a member of the Armed Forces returns home, he or she is not the only one that has to learn to adjust to new surroundings and routines. The family members of our deployed and active duty Veterans have spent many months handling things and with the return of their loved ones, must now adjust their routines, schedules and lives and many times those of their children. Although it is without a doubt one of the happiest times, the return of a loved one from the battlefield can bring many stresses and strains to the family unit and especially to the family and loved ones.
Inside the Wire Foundation’s Family Support workshops meet at the same time as the Veterans’ workshops in a separate room and are open to family and caregivers of the registered Veteran. These workshops compliment the Veterans’ workshop, cover the same topics, and in addition provide time for the family and loved ones to share stories, resources and best practices. Just as important, it is a time for Veteran caregivers and families to socialize and relax with other people who understand the stresses and issues surrounding Veteran transitions and military life.
The Family & Caretaker support workshops include meals and childcare.
